Walsh College Investment Club

Guest blog author: Derek Baker

Combining elements of the business world with a student organization, the Walsh College Investment Club (WCIC) was created to improve members’ research skills, hold active discussions about the stock market, and meet liked-minded students and alumni. Members are taught the real-world methods professionals use to evaluate firms, and will help build desirable teamwork, communication, presentation and analytical skills.

Through a flexible hierarchy, members of the club are able to be part of an organization with an unlimited potential for growth. A member can be as active as they wish, but the real benefits come from being involved. Members can become an officer, committee member, mentor, or volunteer, as well as serving as an analyst or portfolio manager doing equity research.

The best way to find out if the club is right for you is to attend a meeting. The second meeting for the fall semester will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, November 4 in Room 109. The club will meet on the first and third Mondays for the rest of the semester.

Benefits of becoming a member:

  • Learn about the investment management industry
  • Network with students and alumni
  • Participate in discussions about investing and the stock market
  • Build a portfolio of research and real0world experience for your resume
  • Gain experience using the Bloomberg Terminal software

We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. No registration is required and the club is open to all students and alumni. For more information about the club, visit the Investment Club web page.
