Past, Present, Future - The Renovation

By now I’m sure you’ve noticed something going on at the Troy campus. The west side of the building (near Livernois) is under renovation. The construction project encompasses distinct pavilions with a business-communication focused Student Success Center, a student lounge, welcome center, updated student services/administrative work space, and refreshed look for portions of the existing building.

My theory is that Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples. It is a chance for you to show appreciation to your family, friends, and co-workers. Maybe you send them a nice note, give them a hug, send flowers, or hand them a piece of candy.

104th Commencement

A Walsh College Commencement is really the academic equivalent of a family reunion. It is a special day that brings together students, faculty, alumni, trustees, officers, staff, parents, and significant others for one big celebration of academic achievement, intellectual development, and hard work.

Congrats New Alums

This past Saturday was Walsh's 104th Commencement ceremony. Working in two of the busiest rooms for the event (Graduate check-in and Chapel) I get a chance to see our newest alumni before the ceremony. It is truly the heartbeat of the day. You can feel the buzz, excitement, and sometimes the nervousness in the air. It is a flurry of activity.

January 1: Resolutions

“Five, four, three, two, one… Happy New Year!” As I reflect on 2014, it was a good year. Lots of trips: Holland (Michigan) to see the tulips, the UP (Pictured Rocks, White Fish Point), Grand Rapids for ArtPrize, Nashville, Mammoth Caves, and Austin/San Antonio. The highlight for the year was when I was selected as an honoree for dBusiness "30 in their Thirties." The 2014 holiday season for many of us was a whirlwind. The family gatherings are now done. We are all stuffed, shopped a little too much, and have made our toasts. Final part of the holidays we all talk about: New Year's resolutions. Are New Year's resolutions made to be broken? Not the way I look at it.
