  • Don Byrne Ph.D. is currently teaching in his 30th year as an Adjunct Professor at Walsh College.  He is in his 10th year as an adjunct at the University of California, Berkeley.  In 2003 he retired as a Full Professor of Economics from the University of Detroit Mercy.

    PUBLICATIONS

    “Financial Markets in Transition”, 1995 (with Paul Ballew, Senior Research Economist, currently at Dunn and Bradstreet), Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, two editions

    In 2004 Don Byrne wrote and the University of California at Berkeley published:  A Primer on Microeconomics – Laying the Groundwork for Macroeconomics.  It is currently in use at University of California – Berkeley)
     
    In September of 2011 he presented a paper at the Annual Conference of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars with several colleagues on “Competitive Free Market Capitalism and Catholic Social Teaching”. It has since been published in the Fellowships’ Journal.

    In 2003 Don Byrne launched an economics and finance oriented online newsletter.  In August 2003, “An Economics Newsletter for the New Millennium” http://www.econnewsletter.com/  was born and has now entered its eleventh year. In addition to the newsletter, Dr. Byrne has several manuscripts that have been used for many years in the classroom including three full length textbooks and several Primers of shorter length. He along with a colleague will be starting a publishing company before year’s end and expect to have several of these manuscripts published during the coming calendar year.

    Among the full sized textbooks are:

    -  Financial Economics  
     
    -  Principle of Economics

     Among the Primers are the following:

    -  Public Finance

    -  International Finance

     -  Labor Economics
