Mr. Bringhurst teaches in the International MBA program about Business and Culture in Japan. He has extensive experience dealing with Japanese people, customers, and companies in Japan, the USA, and other countries. He has extensive experience on both a professional and personal level, having been in many Japanese homes, and having had many Japanese guests in his home.
Mr. Bringhurst has 25 years of experience with Japanese automotive customers and 36 years experience with, and exposure to, Japanese culture. He has traveled to Japan over 80 times and has cumulatively spent over 4 years there. He has been involved in the development of business with, and products for, Japanese and Korean automakers. He has developed $100s of millions of business with Japanese automakers, in products including airbag systems and body structural crash components and engineered plastic foams used in energy management and seating applications. He has design imprint on parts in tens of millions of automobiles. He is fluent in technical Japanese.
Mr. Bringhurst’s international experience also includes working with automakers in Germany, the U.K., France, Spain, and Canada. His professional experience also includes Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile ordnance and propulsion systems development, and experience with structural wood products. He has previously taught Japanese language courses at Salt Lake Community College.
Mr. Bringhurst has BS and MS degrees from Utah State University in Civil/Structural Engineering with emphasis in structural and geotechnical engineering. His Master’s thesis was on “Design and Engineering Considerations for Earth-Sheltered Housing.”
