Rick was born and raised in South Lyon, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance with distinction from Walsh College in 1995. To further his professional studies, Mr. Foytek went on to attain the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute in 2000. The CFA designation is globally recognized and attests to a charterholder's success in a rigorous and comprehensive study program in the field of investment management and research analysis. To compliment his earlier educational endeavors, Rick earned his Masters of Business Administration from Michigan State University in 2003.
Professor Foytek has been actively counseling successful families and organizations since 1995. Throughout his career, he has held the positions of Investment Analyst, Trust Analyst, Portfolio Manager, Senior Investment Strategist, and Chief Investment Officer. Rick currently holds the position of Private Wealth Manager with Creative Planning, Inc. As a secondary function of his earlier positions, Mr. Foytek has written monthly columns for the Lansing State Journal, co-hosted a radio show, and appeared on local TV commenting on the economy and financial markets. Today, Rick dedicates the majority of his time serving the Wealth Management needs of his clients and assessing these same needs for potential clients.
To serve students, Professor Foytek focuses primarily on investment-related courses. By doing so, he is able to bring his real world experience into the classroom. His professional experience and drive to educate enables him to bridge the gap between theory and the practical application of course-related concepts.
