Department of Defense Scholarship Program

The United States Department of Defense is seeking graduate and undergraduate students from Walsh College who are interested in a grant funded scholarship program for concentrated studies in information assurance. Individuals must be admitted to the MSIA or another program and specialize in information assurance. Potential funding may be available beginning in the fall 2010 semester.
Students selected to participate in the program will be required to sign a written agreement obligating them to work for the Department of Defense as a civilian employee for one calendar year for each year of scholarship assistance received. They will also be required to serve in internship positions with the Department of Defense organization during the time they are receiving scholarship support.
Scholarships are awarded upon government funding and individual eligibility. The scholarships are expected to pay for the cost of tuition, fees, books, lab expenses, supplies and equipment as well as a stipend to cover room and board expenses. Disabled students may receive additional allowances; however there are no allowances for dependents.
Interested candidates should attend an informational meeting for assistance with the submission process. These meetings will be held at the Troy Campus on:

Minimum Eligibility
- The candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
- The candidate must be a citizen of the United States at the time of application. (Note: if family members are not U.S. citizens, some agencies may be unable to process the applicant through the required security level clearances).
- The candidate must be admitted to a Walsh College graduate or undergraduate program.
- The candidate must qualify for a security clearance which will include passing drug and polygraph tests among others.
- Deadline for the 2010 Application submission to Walsh College is 5:00 PM February 13, 2010

2010 Application Now Open
The Detroit chapter of ISACA has announced five $1000.00 scholarships for 2010.
Requirements
- Students graduating in Fall 2100 will be given prioirity
- Students must not be working in post graduation professional career
- Students must complete a four page paper on "Using CoBiT 4.1, How do you Link Business Goals to IT Goals?"

Women in Defense Scholarship 2010 Scholarhsip
2010 Application Now Open
The Michigan Chapter of Women In Defense (WID), a National Security Organization, established the HORIZONSMichigan Scholarship in 2009 to encourage women to pursue careers related to the national security and defense interests of the United States and to provide development opportunities to women already working in national security and defense fields.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria. Preference will be given to the following:
1. Be a resident of Michigan.
2. Be currently enrolled at an accredited Michigan university or college, either full-time or part-time.
3. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible; undergraduates must have attained at least
junior level status (60 credits).
4. Demonstrate interest in pursuing a career related to national security or defense.
5. Demonstrate financial need.
6. Have a minimum grade point average of 3.25.
7. Be a woman.
8. Be a citizen of the United States.
Deadline

Scholarships for Women in Technology
The 2009 Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship
Google Anita Borg Scholarship recipients will each receive a $10,000 award for the 2009-2010 academic year; Finalists will each receive a $1,000 award. A group of female undergraduate and graduate students will be chosen from the applicant pool, and scholarships will be awarded based on the strength of each candidate’s academic background and demonstrated leadership. All scholarship recipients and finalists will be invited to attend the Annual Google Scholars’ Retreat in Mountain View, California on June 25-28, 2009.
Applicants must satisfy all of the following criteria to be eligible:
- be a female student entering her senior year of undergraduate study or be enrolled in a graduate program in the 2009-2010 academic year at a university in the United States;
- be enrolled in Computer Science or Computer Engineering program, or a closely related technical field as a full-time student for the 2009-2010 academic year;
- maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.5 on a 5.0 scale or equivalent in your current program.

MCWT Scholarship Program
The 2009 Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation Scholarship program is now open. Eligible high school seniors, undergraduates, and graduate student applications. Please click here to download the application; full instructions are on the application.
Awards, to go to students focused on I.T. degrees, include:
- A $5000 per year annual scholarship for a worthy high school senior - value up to $20,000;
- A $5000 per year annual scholarship for a university freshman, going into sophomore year - value up to $15,000;
- A $5000 per year annual scholarship for a graduate student, pursuing a postgraduate Doctoral or Master's program - value up to $10,000;
- A $3,000 one-time research grant for a worthwhile I.T.-related research project.
Laptop Grant Program
The Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT) Foundation is offering a stipend of a laptop computer, printer and required software. Both high school seniors and university students are eligible to apply for one-time technology stipend grants, to supply them with laptops, printers and software.
