Katherine Konon is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Walsh College. She is an alumnus of Walsh College and served as an adjunct faculty prior to joining the college as a full-time faculty member. She teaches Financial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting and her specialty, Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting. Professor Konon, a Certified Public Accountant since 1999, practiced public accounting with Plante Moran as an auditor, specializing in manufacturing, governmental, and not-for-profit. Professor Konon has over fourteen years of governmental experience as an Assistant Superintendent of Financial Services and Director of Business of local school districts, including Lake Shore Public Schools, Richmond Community Schools and Mount Clemens Community Schools. Konon is a trusted business official in the governmental field and has had extensive experience in streamlining process, creating efficiencies, negotiating labor agreements, outsourcing and other strategies to manage school district budgets and achieve financial solvency. Professor Konon recently obtained the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation for her government management expertise and holds the Chief Financial Officer Certification from the Michigan School Business Officials.
Konon received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from The Florida State University and Master of Science of Professional Accountancy from Walsh College. She received a Phi Beta Kappa award for her academic achievements. Her professional affiliations include Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan School Business Officials. She was the President and Vice-President of the Macomb/St. Clair Business Officials chapter.
