Mrs. Harris began attending college after she started a family, and although it took 12 years, she went from having no credits to earning a master's degree. She started by earning her Associate of Applied Science in Accounting from Macomb Community College, then her Bachelor of Accounting from Walsh College, and ultimately her Master of Public Administration from Oakland University. Mrs. Harris taught labs for ACC 411/511 and ACC 412/512 for six years after graduating from Walsh College.
While attending classes, she worked for a very small accounting firm that provided a variety of services for our clients. Depending on the clients, she was either an accountant, Open Systems Accounting Software Trainer, Contract Manager or the Fiscal Intermediary.
After completing the course work for her master's degree, she worked as an intern for HAVEN in the development department. At the end of her internship, she was hired as a part-time Development Associate and six weeks later was promoted to Director of Finance. Recently she left HAVEN to accept a position as Customer Service Manager at Pay Systems. While loving the work that she did at HAVEN, she had been in customer service her whole life, and truly missed working with and training customers.
