Thursday, April 25, 2013 - Spring Into Business Career Growth With Walsh College

Walsh College will host a spring open house on Thursday, May 2 from 4 – 7 p.m. at its Troy campus, 3838 Livernois Road.

Prospective students can meet with an advisor, learn about transfer procedures for admittance to Walsh College, receive academic and association information, and have their application fee waived if they apply during the open house.

Walsh will host two events for business professionals during the open house: a LinkedIn 101 for Business Professionals seminar and an Accounting Certification Info Session.

The LinkedIn seminar will run from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. An overview of the professional networking site will be provided, including the best ways to leverage LinkedIn as a job seeker, a working professional and as a marketer or recruiter. Topics covered will include etiquette, tips to expand your professional network and techniques to highlight your expertise.

The Accounting Certification Info Session will run from 6 – 8 p.m. Participants will learn about the importance of certifications in the accounting field such as CMA, CPA, CIA, and CFE, as well as how professional designations may increase career potential and salary. The session is sponsored by the Institute of Management Accountants Detroit Chapter, and a student in attendance will be awarded a scholarship to use toward the CMA exam.

Both sessions are free as part of the open house event. Registration is required. Visit walshcollege.edu/OpenHouse for more information and to register.
