Walsh College Named a Military Friendly School for Fifth Consecutive Year
Walsh College has been named a 2014 Military Friendly School for the fifth consecutive year by G.I. Jobs magazine.
Being named a Military Friendly School puts Walsh College among the top 15 percent of colleges and other institutions in the country that are going above and beyond for the educational and future employment success of military students. The College is also a National Center of Academic Excellence, a designation awarded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National agency to only 91 U.S. schools.
A few services Walsh offers to military students include:
- The Walsh College Student Veteran Organization (WCSVO), which hosts a Veteran Room meeting one day each week. This organization offers a means of involvement and networking for Walsh College veterans and the surrounding community. The WCSVO represents the views of student veterans at the college and explores the population’s needs in order to implement helpful programs
- Walsh sponsors a military grant that is available to all active-duty or reserve members of the U.S. Armed Forces. It covers all undergraduate tuition costs and a significant portion of graduate costs when used with Military Tuition Assistance
- A full-time Veterans Services Coordinator, Lauren Mileto, who serves as the main point of contact for students who are veterans. Mileto assists the students by navigating their education benefits and specializes in understanding their payments and how they can combine multiple benefits
