Walsh College and The University College of Economics and Culture in Latvia Form Academic Alliance
Walsh College has entered into a multi-year partnership with The University College of Economics and Culture (UCEC) of Riga, Latvia, forging a collaboration between the two institutions in the field of social sciences and business administration, and developing new initiatives in higher education.
The partnership will explore academic collaboration in various areas, including foreign study programs, joint degrees, and the sharing of teaching materials. Potential collaboration will also take place in the areas of academic publications, co-hosting academic conferences, and development of case studies.
The relationship between Walsh College and the UCEC was developed while Walsh College Associate Professor of Marketing, Dr. Michael Levens, completed a Fulbright Fellowship at the UCEC from January 27 through March 11, 2013. Dr. Levens also worked with the United States Embassy in Riga, consulting on marketing strategies with business incubators in Riga, Daugavpils and Jelgava. In addition, Dr. Levens presented lectures to university faculty, advised students and consulted with individual Latvian businesses on their marketing plans.
As part of the partnership, Walsh College will offer a European Union Business course, taught in Latvia, which will be offered to all Walsh students. Interested students should visit www.walshcollege.edu/EUBusinessCourse to request more information.
