More than 100 business and community leaders, board members, faculty, staff, and students attended the inaugural State of the College 2013 event on October 2, 2013 at the Troy Campus.

President Stephanie Bergeron led an interactive presentation highlighting College achievements for the past year and an overview of critical issues impacting higher education. She also introduced exciting future plans for Walsh, including the announcement of the creation of a new business communications department and a new Success Center. The Success Center will emphasize communication and the softer skills of leadership that often increase career success.

In addition, President Bergeron announced plans for a major renovation at the Troy Campus which will dramatically enhance the student learning experience. During the presentation, live TV cameras in the Blackstone LaunchPad and the Finance Lab enabled the audience to watch students engaging in an entrepreneurial coaching session and a collaborative investment exercise. At the end of the event, attendees participated in faculty-led forum discussions on business trends, the Detroit area business climate, and the impact of both on the business community.
