Pairing Wine and Food

Pairing wine and food can be daunting. The key is balance.  The most important rule is to drink what you like.  Next, consider the overall meal.  If the dish is mild, pair it with a mild wine.  Similarly, you want to match the richness of the dish with the richness of the wine. Last, keep in mind that foods generally are best served with wine from the same region.  For example, if you are cooking Italian, match with an Italian wine for optimal taste.

Walsh College Wine Gala

To learn more about wine-tasting and food pairing, come to the Walsh Wine Gala. It’s Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. at Andiamo Italia in Warren.  Local wine distributors will be on hand to share their most popular vintages that you can purchase at your local grocer.  There will also be craft beer, a martini bar, and delicious food.  All proceeds benefit the Walsh College Student Scholarship Fund.  To learn more, visit walshcollege.edu/winegala.
