In order to have a successful academic journey, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Most are common sense, but it’s always good to have a refresher! Here are my top tips.
1. Check your program plan.
Your program plan tells you what you have completed, still need to take, and courses you're currently enrolled in. This feature on WebAdvisor helps you figure out where you're at within the program. It enables you to be informed and see where you may need to bring up questions. Get in the habit of regularly checking it.
2. Plan ahead.
Make an appointment with an advisor. You should be making regular appointments with your advisor to make sure you're on track. This helps avoid unexpected surprises near the end of your program. It's also a good opportunity to review your program plan.
3. Register early.
I've seen it happen so often. Procrastinating and waiting to register until the last minute. Waiting too long will haunt you. If you register early, there is a good chance you will be able to get the classes you need and want. It saves you time, energy, and stress.
4. Ask for help.
Don't feel your question is silly. Everyone has questions at some point. Sometimes many students are thinking the same thing as you!
What other tidbits would you give to students that you've found helpful?
