He serves as the southeast Michigan leader of the firm’s state and local tax practice. Mike received his Master of Science in Taxation from Walsh College in 2006. Class of 1999 The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit announces the recent appointment of John J. Latella, first vice chair, Metropolitan Detroit Advisory Board, to a three-year term on The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board. Latella, co-CEO and general counsel of Garden Fresh Gourmet, will join the group of national civic, philanthropic, and business leaders who will help guide the organization in matters ranging from strategic planning to public outreach. John was selected based on his outstanding community involvement and engagement with The Salvation Army of Metro Detroit. He received his Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College in 1999. Class of 1998 Matthew W. Borg has been appointed chief financial officer at CCMC, a leading provider of financial technology integration solutions in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Matthew has more than 18 years of experience in finance that spans multiple industries. He received his Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College in 1998. Class of 1996 Leanna (Harrouk) Haun tapped into her artistic side to open Picasso’s Grapevine in Clarkston, an art studio offering private and open session painting parties. The new entrepreneur said she received advice from Blackstone LaunchPad a free service for Walsh College alumni and students, on business- model essentials including marketing aspects, copyrights, search-engine optimization, purchasing or leasing a facility, and location. Leanna received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Walsh College in 1996. Michelle McHale has been elected to partner at Plante Moran. She leads the firm’s Investigative Services Group, providing forensic investigations, financial consulting services and litigation support to clients in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, not-for-profits, education, real estate and construction. Michelle is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, where she is the former chair of the Fraud Task Force. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Michelle received her Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College in 1996. Class of 1991 Keith Budd joined Interstate Billing Service as vice president, Midwest Region. Keith received his Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College in 1991. Class of 1990 Warner Norcross & Judd LLP has named Sean H. Cook as chair of the firm’s Tax Practice Group. Sean is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, where he chairs the Taxation Section of the Trusts and Estates Committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and on the board of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Sean has been named to Best Lawyers in America, Michigan Super Lawyers, and as a Top Lawyer by DBusiness magazine. He received his Master of Science in Taxation from Walsh College in 1990. Class of 1988 Susan Ide has joined Rochester College as the new controller. She received her Bachelor of Accountancy from Walsh College in 1988. Class of 1959 Robert H. Naftaly has been elected chairman of the Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Inc.’s Board of Directors. He is also chairman of the Compensation Committee, and is a member of the Governance & Nominating Committee. He was recently elected to the Board of Directors for Talmer Bancorp, Inc., a publicly traded company offering commercial banking services primarily in the Midwest. He serves as chairman of the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Committee, which administers the UAW Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Association (VEBA) Trust Fund. Robert is currently a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Robert is a class of 1959 Walsh Institute alumnus.
