Are Entrepreneurs Born or Made? (Steps to take to become an entrepreneur)

Guest Blogger, Walsh alum Jason Beale, BBA '08, Co-Founder of RegainGo

Jason was featured on Startup Nation Radio Show.

For most of us, being an entrepreneur is the result of a catalyst that created a desire to own our own business, such as losing our job, the death of a loved one having a hobby, or the desire for a better financial life.  These events all can create a situation where starting a business seems a better option than working for one. No matter how young or old you are, there are things that you can do to better yourself to be more prepared to become an entrepreneur.

Applauding Alumni

Ivgen GunerApplauding Alumni: Ivgen Guner, MSA '84

Ivgen graduated from Walsh College with a Master of Science in Accounting in 1984. Upon graduation, she accepted a position with Unisys Corporation. Later she was recruited by Oracle Corporation in California. Her current title is senior vice president, Global Business Finance.

Oracle’s financial operations have been on the forefront of change for more than a decade, starting when managers centralized the core Oracle E-Business Suite into a single, enterprise-wide resource and reduced data centers from 40 to 2 facilities. Beginning in 2005, these efforts have saved the equivalent of 10 percent of revenues each year as Oracle grew from a US$12 billion to a US$37 billion company.

Blackstone LaunchPad Member News

On Saturday, December 13, Walsh College alumni and Blackstone LaunchPad members Julie Andreae of Secure Beginnings, LLC and Jason Beale of RegainGo.com were guests on the Startup Nation Radio show.  The topic discussed was:  Are you born an entrepreneur or can you be taught?  What all the guests agreed on was the fact that every entrepreneur, born or taught, has rough edges that they can improve.  Startup Nation can be heard at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoons on WJR 760 AM.

Listen to the panel discussion to find out if you’re a natural entrepreneur and how to spring it into action here!

Walsh College alum and Blackstone LaunchPad member Anthony Mitchell is featured in the current Forbes Magazine 2015 Investment Guide as one of more than a dozen “Unknown All Stars of Personal Finance”.
