As today’s business world becomes more complex, state laws are changing to require an increasing depth of skills for Certified Public Accountants (CPA). In response to this trend, Walsh College offers the Bachelor of Accountancy degree to help graduates excel in a business environment that is growing more and more complicated.  Backed by the Walsh tradition of excellence, this degree program satisfies the Certified Public Accountant license requirements while providing students with the business background and extensive accounting skills necessary for success as a CPA.

Opportunities for Employment
Accountants may either work at public accounting firms, or large corporations. Some may work in local, state or federal government. Still others choose to “hang out a shingle” and become self-employed CPAs.  Opportunities in accounting are plentiful with projections for opportunities to grow steadily through 2012. Much of this growth reflects the larger role accountants play in the business world due to new regulations that create additional government control over board of director and corporate conduct.

Salary Expectations
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the average salary range for accounting graduates is $37,000-52,000.  For those seeking positions in public accounting, the average starting salary is $40,058.  Salaries greatly increase with experience.  Public accounting firm partners may start at $128,800 with the average starting salary for an experienced partner being $276,000.
