Biography
Mr. Pietila has taught in the Communication Department at Walsh College since 1991. While he primarily teaches Intermediate Business Communication (COM 320) and Advanced Business Communication (COM 340) at the Troy campus and University Center campuses, he also taught the pilot class, Advanced Accounting Communications (ACC/COM 340). Richard has served as a consultant, working with several firms in diverse areas such as research design, research implementation, marketing, and technical writing.
Before teaching at Walsh, Mr. Pietila taught courses in Public Speaking, Media/Mass Communication, Persuasive Communication, Communication and Contemporary Society, and Theories in Communication at the University of Michigan.
Prior to becoming an instructor/teacher, Mr. Pietila worked in radio (in administrative, on-air, promotions, and sales capacities) and in the banking industry.
