Biography
Barbara E. Alpern, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita and was Professor and Chair of the Communications and Marketing Department before she retired in September 2005. She received her doctorate from The Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan. Although retired from full-time teaching, Dr. Alpern continues to present papers and seminars that emphasize the importance of research, writing, and presentation skills in today's business environment. She reviews textbooks, serves as a consultant to business and industry as a professional education program designer and presenter, and is actively involved in community agencies and education associations.
Dr. Alpern is married to a CPA, has three children - one was born on April 15th, and four grandchildren.
