Marla Carew has been adjunct instructor, Accounting and Tax, at Walsh College since 2013. She also serves as an adjunct instructor at Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.
Carew earned her Master of Laws with a major in taxation from the Wayne State University School of Law in 2009. She previously received her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Michigan in 2000. She also has two other degrees from U. of M. -- Bachelor of Arts, anthropology, in 1990 and a Master of Arts, Chinese studies, in 1994.
She began her career as an attorney with Raymond & Prokop PC in 2000. She subsequently worked with Honigman, Miller, Schwartz and Cohn, LP in 2006 and Varnum LLP from 2007 to 2012 prior to forming Carew Law in 2013.
Carew’s professional memberships include the State Bar of Michigan, American Bar Association, Michigan Women’s Tax Association, and the Association for Corporate Growth. She is a fellow, Michigan State Bar Foundation.
Her professional publications have included co-authored articles in the Michigan Bar Journal, Journal of Taxation, Michigan Tax Lawyer, and Michigan Business Lawyer. She has been an invited speaker at the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants Tax Conference from 2009-2013. Carew has also served on the board of trustees, Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings.
