Master of Science in Information Technology

The Masters of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) is focused on preparing IT professionals to optimize information technology management in support of business strategies and goals. 

The MSIT program is designed to immerse organizational technology leaders in how to assess, evaluate, determine, implement and manage technology choices from a broad-based technology perspective.  This program focuses on systems thinking along with organizational planning and decision making to develop the skills of emerging leaders in IT and business.

 Core Courses

IT 503 Ethics Seminar (1 cr)

IT 504 Integrated Systems Thinking (3 cr)

IT 505 Governance, Risk and Compliance (3 cr)

IT 506 IT Leadership and Strategy (3 cr)

IT 599 Capstone (3 cr)

Student also must complete ALL courses from the following focus areas:

1) Leading Through Portfolio & Product Management

IT 551 Fundamentals of Project and Portfolio Management (3 cr)

IT 552 Communication and Financial Management (3 cr)

IT 553 Product and Portfolio Management (3 cr)

2) Protecting the Enterprise

IT 565 Fundamental of Cyber Security (3 cr)

IT 566 Security Program Management  (3 cr)

IT 567 Business Continuity, Resilience and Crisis Management (3 cr)

3) Maximizing Enterprise Technology

IT 575 Network and Enterprise Architecture (3 cr) 

IT 576 Data and Decision Making (3 cr)

IT 577 Management of Emerging Technologies (3 cr)

A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.000 must be earned while in residence. All other courses must be completed with a “C” (2.000) or higher.


Students who have the following certifications are eligible for advanced standing course credit:

  • CGEIT Certification: IT 505
  • CISSP Certification: IT 565 and IT 566
  • CISM Certification: IT 505 and IT 566
  • PMP Certification: IT 506, IT 551, and IT 552
  • SSCP Certification: IT 565
