We're proud of our students and alumni - and we know you are too. Nominating individuals for awards is a great way to recognize the difference they make in their communities and industries. As a way to showcase our students and alumni, we encourage you to consider nominating individuals who deserve recognition.


Walsh College Award Categories


Walsh College Distinguished Alumni Award
Nominations for 2012 are now open. Contact Andrea Richards at 248-823-1204 for more information and to nominate an individual.

This award celebrates an alumnus from the college who has achieved personal and professional recognition and/or made civic contributions in their community. In addition, candidates must be an outstanding contributor to the College.
Candidates for this prestigious award must have received a bachelors or higher degree from Walsh College. Once each year, nominations will be accepted from alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of Walsh College.  The College will bestow the award at the Walsh College Leadership Awards event. Nominees must be living at the time of the nomination. The award may not be conferred in absentia; however, it may be granted posthumously.

This award identifies high achieving young alumni  who have distinguished themselves in an exceptional way.  It recognizes early outstanding achievements in a chosen profession or field, and contributions and service to society, the community and Walsh College.
Candidates for this prestigious award must have received a bachelors or higher degree from Walsh College. Once each year, nominations will be accepted from alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of Walsh College.  The College will bestow the award at the Walsh College Leadership Awards event. Budget pressures, increasing red tape, helping with tough strategic decision-making and restructuring companies in difficult times have become more common for the top finance chief. And sometimes, their efforts can mean the difference between living to fight another day or packing it up and going home. For the past four year, Crain's Detroit Business has recognized these heroes with their CFO of the Year awards program and special section.

Newsmaker of the Year Scholarship

Crain’s Detroit Business presents a scholarship each year to an outstanding business student enrolled at a Southeast Michigan college or university. The award is presented each February in conjunction with our Newsmaker of the Year Award. The Crain’s Detroit Business scholarship award nomination process is open to the universities/colleges in Southeast Michigan that have accredited business programs. Applications are distributed through each school’s financial aid office beginning in early December. Students must meet the following criteria: Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0, Excellent work ethic, Campus involvement, Financial need, and Letter of reference from the dean’s office.
