   Position: Payroll Coordinator

Reports to: Director, Accounting/Controller

FSLA: Nonexempt

Major Responsibilities:  

  • Independently perform all in-house payroll related functions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for faculty, administrative, and temporary employees.
  • Calculate, verify and input hours and overtime; perform balancing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain time and attendance records.
  • Process new hires and terminations; post changes in pay and tax status.
  • Record and process various deductions and payments, including insurance premiums/opt outs, 403(b), paid time off, levis, garnishments and tuition reimbursements.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related taxes and filings, including W-2’s and payroll tax returns.
  • Prepare monthly payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts.
  • Work closely with HR on interpreting policies, implementing regulatory changes, benefit deductions, cost distributions, and system development.
  • Administer defined benefit pension plan, including preparing census data, coordinating forms and retiree payments, answering questions and maintaining records.
  • Keep abreast of payroll related laws and regulations and withholding procedures.
  • Recommend and implement modifications, document procedures.
  • Work closely with OIT to ensure optimal system functionality; implement upgrades and test system changes.
  • Query and prepare reports.
  • Prepare for and respond to questions for audits of payroll, 403(b), pension, and worker’s compensation.
  • Communicate payroll procedures and related policies to employees; respond to employee questions.

 

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Minimum of five years comprehensive payroll experience required.
  • Experience with payroll system(s) and proficiency in Excel and Word required.
  • Associates degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations required.

  Position: Part-time Testing Assistant

Reports to: Coordinator, Student Academic Success Services & Testing Center

Major Responsibilities:
• Administer a variety of tests (paper and electronic) to groups and individuals, including those with special needs.
• Ensure optimal and secure testing conditions for all clientele.
• Uphold the security and confidentiality of tests and records, scoring procedures, and data collection.
• Schedule and monitor testing appointments for test takers.
• Monitor and update testing calendar.

Position: Director, Records, Registration & Veterans Services

Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Enrollment & Student Services

Major Responsibilities:

• Lead professional and support staff responsible for records, registration and veteran services.
• Manage registration process, including publication and distribution of course schedules.

Position: Assistant Director, Records, Registration & Veteran Services

Major Responsibilities:
• Manage and train support staff and veteran services coordinator.

Position: Part-time Veteran Services Intern (temporary)
at Walsh College Troy Campus

Major Responsibilities:  
• Assistant in providing service to the veteran and military population on campus, working closely with the
Walsh College Veteran Services Team.
• Understand basic college departments and procedures in order to direct students using military education benefits to the correct dept/person for assistance.

Position: Part-time Video Intern (temporary)

Reports to: Director of Marketing

Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for recording and editing videos and taking photographs for the marketing department which is responsible for a wide range of functions.
• Video production:
Assist in coordinating videotaping events, which will include: college events, student/alumni testimonials, staff and faculty informational videos, and ad hoc video post-production projects for the college.
Handle all pre- and post-production to complete videos, including approval process (internal College approval and waivers from those appearing in the film).
