Position:              Part Time Representative, University Center at Macomb Community College

Reports:              Office Coordinator, University Centers

FLSA:                 Nonexempt

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide office and administrative support for the University Center Campus.
  • Serve as front line contact for basic Walsh College information via telephone, in person and/or via email.
  • Schedule advisor appointments and direct calls to appropriate person(s) and/or department(s).
  • Assist prospects and student with basic information pertaining to student services.
  • Input student registrations and assist students with resolving scheduling conflicts.
  • Perform ongoing follow-up with prospects, applicants and current students.
  • Provide faculty support to include preparation and copying of documents.
  • Monitor and submit faculty requests for equipment and technology use.
  • Inventory marketing and promotion materials and request as needed.
  • Create packets for classroom presentations events.
  • Assistant with special events and projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of office experience or equivalent college education.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to serve student in a professional manner.
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Must be dependable and organized with strong attention to detail and have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced office environment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook, knowledge of internet preferred.
  • Must be available to work up to 29 hours per week to include a minimum of two evenings until 7:00 p.m.

Position:          Academic Advisor, Novi Campus

Reports to:      Director, Novi Campus

FLSA:             Exempt

Major Responsibilities:         

  • Advise new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students regarding academic programs, admissions requirements, and transferring of courses.
  • Recruit new students through high schools, community colleges, employers, and community/business events.
  • Serve as primary recruiting liaison with partner community colleges and other transfer institutions as assigned.
  • Develop relationships with local corporations to ensure employees are informed of Walsh programs.
  • Evaluate transfer credit and process admissions applications.
  • Perform ongoing follow-up with prospective and current students.
  • Assist in the development and execution of enrollment management plans to include marketing, admissions, orientation, and retention activities.
  • Provide office and event coverage two early evenings per week and occasional weekend assignments as part of a flexible schedule. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree required.  Graduate degree preferred.
  • A minimum of one year customer/student service and/or office experience required.
  • Student service in higher education preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of excellent customer service required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Possesses the demeanor and presence to represent the College.

Position:       Part-time Writer/Editor, Marketing Department (20 – 25 hours/week)

Reports to:   Assistant Vice President, Marketing

 Major Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize, write, edit, and produce magazines, newsletters, brochures, and other collateral materials.
  • Manage project review workflow, editing and approval process.
  • Assist departments with writing and editing projects, as needed.
  • Draft press releases and assist with media relations.
  • Assist in editing fundraising proposals and case statements for fundraising campaigns.
  • Script commencement ceremony.
  • Create high-level communications for various constituents.
  • Write executive speeches: organize and research topics; draft speeches, presentations, and talking points that convey the College’s mission and strategic messages.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in English, journalism, or communications.  
  • A minimum of five years of professional writing experience required including experience with media relations.
  • Superior writing, editing, proofreading, and grammar skills required; AP Style knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to write persuasive communications required.
  • Experience in executive speechwriting preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with track record of meeting deadlines required.

Position: Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations

Reports to: Vice President, Chief Development Officer

FLSA:  Exempt

Major Responsibilities:
• Identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit and secure large (five figure plus) philanthropic commitments to support the mission and goals.

• Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive proactive plan focused on expanding and enhancing corporate and foundation relationships to meet fundraising goals.

• Initiate opportunities for faculty and staff to interact with corporate and foundation prospects and interpret corporate and foundation interests to the College.

• Increase visibility and create relationships with foundations and employers. 

• Develop highly competitive proposals for corporate and foundation prospects and leverage funder goals and preferences with the College’s goals.

• Maintain a rigorous schedule of contacts with corporate and foundation representatives and create moves management plans.

• Create compelling presentations and comprehensive fundraising proposals.

• Monitor proposal deadlines, prepare and edit proposals in collaboration with VP, Development; manage proposal submissions.

• Ensure stewardship and reporting requirements are met to sustain successful partnerships by maintaining detailed records of solicitation activities.

• Work closely with development and alumni relations staff, career services and other college representatives to create opportunities to build awareness among corporate and foundation constituencies to significantly expand recruiting opportunities and positive fund-raising relationships. Participate on the College’s corporate relations team.

• Assist the Executive Vice President and Chief Academic Officer (EVP) in creating an Academic Roundtable comprised of executives in the corporate sector. Working with the EVP, help recruit and retain members.  Assist EVP in planning agendas and facilitating meetings. 

• Supervise development officer position.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Minimum 5 years demonstrated successful major gift, corporate and/or foundation fundraising experience preferably in higher education (or a comparably complex organization).

• Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising techniques required.

• Demonstrated ability in grant and proposal writing preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of obtaining corporate and foundation giving programs information required.

• Ability to convey appropriate messages and represent the College to encourage interest in and support of the College required.

• Ability to initiate and build relationships with prospective donors via telephone and in person required.

• Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a wide array of people required.

 Position:  Marketing Manager

Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Marketing

Major Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute marketing strategies and plans, including brand campaign and individual academic program marketing.

• Track marketing plans and budget.  Provide monthly activity reports.

• Help to ensure that all initiatives support the marketing strategy and adhere to brand standards.

Position: Part-time Video Intern (temporary)

Reports to: Director of Marketing

FLSA: Non-exempt

Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for recording and editing videos and taking photographs for the marketing department which is responsible for a wide range of functions.

• Video production:

Assist in coordinating videotaping events, which will include: college events, student/alumni testimonials, staff and faculty informational videos, and ad hoc video post-production projects for the college.

Handle all pre- and post-production to complete videos, including approval process (internal College approval and waivers from those appearing in the film).

Post video content on College website and College YouTube channel.
• Photography:

Attend College events, often evening and weekend, to take photographs using department camera

Take headshots of College faculty

Make edits and enhancements to photographs as needed

Minimum Requirements:
• Pursuing a video production, photography, or related degree at an articulated community college (www.walshcollege.edu/Transfer)

• Experience with digital video recording, digital cameras, and production techniques

• Access to video production software for editing and post-production. Video camera and digital camera provided.
