     Position: Instructional Designer

Reports to: Director, Online Learning

FLSA: Exempt

 Major Responsibilities:
 • Work collaboratively with faculty and online learning staff to develop online courses and supplemental online material according to best practices and Department of Education requirements.
• Design effective instructional materials for adult learners.
• Coordinate production of instructional materials from various sources.
• Recommend technologies, practices, and policies to faculty that achieve instructional goals, address learner preferences, and engage learners.
• Evaluate quality of existing online courses.
• Effectively communicate expectations and online pedagogy to faculty assigned to course development.
• Store documents according to procedure and produce documentation as required.
• Explore, test and adopt new technology and methods for online courses.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. One degree in related field of study is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three years experience in instructional design.
• Minimum of one year experience using web-based course management system and applying contemporary instructional design theories.
• Basic knowledge of streaming audio and video, compression methods, file types and formats required.
• Familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for online instruction.
• Strong computer skills especially in using Word, PowerPoint, HTML and Excel required.
• Ability to effectively present technical materials to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent project management, organizational, presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to interpret instructor needs to produce instructional materials.
• Proven ability to continually adapt and learn new procedures and software programs.
• Must have proactive problem solving ability.
• Experience in working with faculty and/or teaching online at the college level a plus.

Position: Part-time Academic Research Assistant (long term temporary)  

Reports to: Chair, Finance & Economics Department

FLSA: Non-exempt

Major Responsibilities:
• Provide research design assistance for faculty and department projects.
• Assist in data collection, analyses, and communication of results.
• Coordinate Economic Sentiment survey.  
• Perform and summarize secondary research on various topics.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; master’s degree a plus. 
• Experience or education in research design (both quantitative and qualitative methods), data collection, and analysis strategies required.
• Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook proficiency required. 
• Proficient with SPSS, online survey tools (i.e., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey) a plus.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail required.

Position: Part-time Veteran Services Intern (temporary)
at Walsh College Troy Campus

Reports to: Veteran Services Coordinator

FLSA: Non-exempt
  
Major Responsibilities:  
• Assistant in providing service to the veteran and military population on campus, working closely with the
Walsh College Veteran Services Team.
• Understand basic college departments and procedures in order to direct students using military education benefits to the correct dept/person for assistance.
• Update and maintain a contact list of local military resources as a reference for our veteran students and their families (e.g. bases, military installations, VFW, County Veteran Offices, etc.)
• Create, update and audit physical and electronic files for those using military education benefits.
• Answer basic GI Bill related correspondence through email and phone; assist students with basic GI Bill questions.
• Process veteran education benefit paperwork including assisting with GI Bill certifications.
• Assist with Veteran Room planning and weekly coverage.
• Review and recommend changes to veteran website.
• Perform additional veteran related activities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
 • A student pursuing one of these options:
a. A full-time program of education of training under chapters 31 and 34 or title 38 United States Code.
b. A program of education or training at the ¾ time rate or higher under chapter 30, 31, 32 or 35 of title 38, U.S.C., or chapter [1606] of title 10, U.S.C. The ¾ or higher training rate must be verifiable at the time the student signs the work-study agreement.
• Veteran status required.
• Strong desire and ability to learn quickly and independently required.
• Understand basic elements of the GI Bill chapters.
• Must be available to work 15-25 hours per week, within a flexible schedule.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.

 Position: Part-time Accountant (approximately 20 hours per week, flexible scheduling)

Reports to: Controller Director of Accounting

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Major  Responsibilities:
• Perform monthly account analysis.
• Prepares internal/external analysis and reports including contribution margin, cost to raise a dollar and Form 990.
• Track and report on state, federal and private grants/contracts.
• Assist in budget preparation and review.
• Prepare month and year end journal entries.
• Assist with yearend external audit.
• Works collaboratively with Assistant Director of Accounting and Treasury Manager on projects.
• Field problems and answer detailed questions and issues of a detailed confidential nature.
• Participate in scheduled software upgrades and performs adhoc analysis and other special projects.
• Analyze, research and report on special or compliance related issues.

Minimum  Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA and/or CPA preferred.
• 5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit setting.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and federal regulations for higher education.
• Advanced spreadsheet (Excel), word processing (Word) and PowerPoint skills. Access database experience desirable.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively as a team member.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and attention to detail is essential.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.

Position: Part-time Video Intern (temporary)

Reports to: Director of Marketing

FLSA: Non-exempt

Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for recording and editing videos and taking photographs for the marketing department which is responsible for a wide range of functions.
• Video production:
Assist in coordinating videotaping events, which will include: college events, student/alumni testimonials, staff and faculty informational videos, and ad hoc video post-production projects for the college.
Handle all pre- and post-production to complete videos, including approval process (internal College approval and waivers from those appearing in the film).
Post video content on College website and College YouTube channel.
• Photography:
Attend College events, often evening and weekend, to take photographs using department camera
Take headshots of College faculty
Make edits and enhancements to photographs as needed

Minimum Requirements:
• Pursuing a video production, photography, or related degree at an articulated community college (www.walshcollege.edu/Transfer)
• Experience with digital video recording, digital cameras, and production techniques
• Access to video production software for editing and post-production. Video camera and digital camera provided.
• Must be available to work up to 20 hours per week and cover occasional evening and weekend events.
• Intermediate knowledge of websites and YouTube as related to the video posting process.
• Video and photography samples will be requested during the interview process.
• Strong desire and ability to learn quickly and independently required.

Position: Part-time Marketing & PR Intern (temporary)

Reports to: Marketing Manager

FLSA: Non-exempt

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide support to marketing and PR department which is responsible for a wide range of functions.
• Assist in coordinating events and advertising campaigns, college events calendar, vendor relations, webinars, marketing research, marketing communications, website updates, copywriting/proofreading, and social media.

Minimum Requirements:
• Candidate must be a Walsh College student pursuing a marketing major at the bachelor’s degree level or degreed alumni.
• Must be available to work 20 hours per week and cover occasional evening and weekend events (will schedule around courses).
• Organizational skills and ability to multi-task required.
• Strong written and proofreading communication skills required.
• Intermediate knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Work or academic samples will be requested during the interview process).
• Strong desire and ability to learn quickly required.
• Strong knowledge of Walsh College programs required.
• Marketing, social media, or Web design experience a plus.
