Walsh has adopted the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) new certification program for 2015.
According to SHRM, the new certification reflects a human resources professional’s competencies and his or her ability to put knowledge to work through critical thinking and application.
Walsh’s decision to offer the new SHRM certification was based on the trade association’s closer connection with professionals and the HR industry; its leading learning based training materials; and its broader scope of eligibility criteria for certification acceptance. Walsh instructors Rebecca Davies, JD and Tina Marie Wohlfield, MBA, will continue to teach the exam prep classes for SHRM certification. They both hold senior level certifications and have taught other SHRM endorsed prep classes with their students achieving a high pass rate.
SHRM announced in May 2014 that it was developing a new certification and competency model that HR professionals need to advance their careers and improve their effectiveness in the workplace.
“The Society for Human Resource Management is pleased to partner with Walsh Institute and Walsh College to help HR professionals acquire both the competencies and knowledge essential for success in today’s global economy,” said J. Robert Carr, SPHR, SHRM Senior Vice President for Membership, Marketing and External Affairs, “SHRM is committed to ensuring that our certifications are recognized as best-in-class and distinguishes those certified as best in the marketplace. We regard the SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP as the new standard in certification for the HR profession.”
Benefits and Features:
Universal Skills and Recognition: The new HR certification is relevant worldwide, giving professionals the recognition and flexibility to use their knowledge, skills and competencies anywhere.
Knowledge and Competency: The new HR certification tests HR knowledge as well as competency to ensure the professional’s ability to demonstrate not only what they know, but what they can do with this knowledge in situations they encounter.
Developed with Employers in Mind: The new HR certification is based on in-depth research focused on and supported by global employers and business leaders and reflects what HR professionals need to know to lead the profession.
Expanded Eligibility and Inclusivity: The new HR certification recognizes the diversity in the HR profession. The eligibility requirements are more reflective of HR roles, the cost of the exam is lower and the test windows have been extended for better accessibility and flexibility.
