Interview with Todd:

What was your job title before you attended Walsh College?

“Director, Candidate Development”

What is your job title now?

“President of Harvey Hohauser & Associates”

How did Walsh College influence you?

“The best thing I learned from Walsh College was how to work in teams. This approach raised my EQ, leadership capabilities, and understanding of how to leverage individual strengths to the positive completion of projects.”

Is there a Professor that influenced you?

“Len Brzozowski was my professor in several leadership courses. He taught me the power of listening and understanding the people resources available to get things done.”

What struggles did you go through during your time as a student? After graduation?

“Working full time, with a young family and having a class or two to complete was quite stressful. Being forced to prioritize and rely on my support network was great training for what I do today. My biggest struggle after graduation was how to extinguish my ego. As a leader, the most important thing I have learned is that my team, my direct reports, are one hundred times more important than I am. Making certain that they are supported and listened to; understanding that my approach is not the only approach; that there are other ways to get things done, other approaches that work to the successful completion of projects.”

What have you learned along the way to where you are today?

“A great deal of my work today is with people from all over the world. I have learned that one cannot take personally the approaches of individuals from other cultures. There are cultural idiosyncrasies that we are not used to here in the U.S. One must accept these differences and discover ways to work within their framework for success.”

What is your greatest accomplishment?

“My greatest accomplishment has been growing our retained executive search firm, Harvey Hohauser & Associates. I am so very proud of what my father accomplished with the firm for twenty-five years, and am so honored that he has entrusted me with his name and allowed me the opportunity to grow.’

Why would you encourage people to attend Walsh College?

“I would encourage people to attend Walsh College because of the rigorous education you will receive. Additionally, the myriad diversity of students you meet; not only by background but the diversity of skills and industries each student comes from.”

What advice would you give a new alum?

“The advice I would give a new alum is stay involved. The advice I would give a current student is to interact with your classmates; you will learn just as much, if not more, from them than you will learn from your professors.”

Walsh College recognized Todd with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009 and continues to applaud Todd Hohauser in his continued successes.
