BSIS Includes Web Development Specialty

Interested in web development? Walsh offers a web development specialization in the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) degree program. “There is a strong market demand for web development skills,” said Terri Washburn, Ph.D., interim dean, Division of Online Learning; and assistant vice president, Academic Administration.

“By adding a formal Web Development specialization that further develops students in several of these in-demand skills, we can better prepare students for the market’s demands.”

Dr. Washburn and Tom Petz (MSIA ’08) designed the courses, and Petz will teach them. Professor Petz, a part-time multimedia applications developer in the College’s Division of Online Learning, has more than 15 years of computer industry experience in building and using the latest web technologies.

Web Development Specialization Courses

  • BIT 451 - Principles of Web Design
  • BIT 452 - Fundamentals of Active Web Page Scripting
  • BIT 453 -  Advanced Web Technologies
