As the Equifax breach continues to circulate in the news, consumers need to how they approach financial, credit and identity privacy. In the last year, there have been significant trends associated with cyber security threats. Identify and credit information are extremely valuable. Cyber crime attackers leverage the stolen data to create new accounts and acquire funds, or exploit old accounts for their financial gain. The landscape of cybersecurity attackers is complicated and complex. Some attackers are shifting to ransomware to monetize their efforts in a quicker fashion. There are also nation state government players who are interested in information from data breaches for archiving and possible future usage.
