FEI Recognizes Walsh Students for Academic Excellence

Walsh students Aysha Abdul Shahid and Kelly Burt have received the Financial Executives International (FEI) Academic Award from FEI’s Detroit chapter and will be honored at a virtual ceremony in late February. FEI is a professional organization for senior-level financial executives with more than 10,000 members and 65 chapters across the United States. The Detroit chapter annually recognizes graduate and undergraduate students in accounting and finance who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, service and a commitment to pursuing a career in accounting or finance.

“This award would not have been possible without the constant support of Walsh faculty members, my friends and family. Many hours of studying, stress and group projects was worth earning my degree and this award,” said Abdul Shahid, who transferred from Macomb Community College to finish a Bachelor of Accountancy at Walsh and plans to pursue a career in the accounting field.

“Winning the FEI award is an honor. It is recognition for the effort put in towards my master’s degree and a reminder that hard work pays off. I cannot express how grateful I am,” said Burt, who earned a Master of Science in finance from Walsh and works as a financial analyst.

Walsh offers undergraduate and graduate accounting and finance programs and a dual Master of Business Administration/Master of Science in finance. Several Walsh programs have received international and national recognition.
