Dr. Levens joined Walsh College in 2007 from General Motors, where he was OnStar/XM Radio consumer research manager and Saab 9-3 and 9-5 vehicle lines brand manager and has held a variety of marketing leadership positions at General Motors. Dr. Levens has extensive global experience working in 25 countries on five continents and also has award-winning entrepreneurial experience with a business start-up, receiving Global 1st Runner-up honors in the 1995 International Entrepreneurial Challenge (MOOT CORP®).

Educated in the United States and Australia, Dr. Levens holds a Postdoctoral Qualification in Marketing and Management from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University, a Ph.D. in Organization and Management (Marketing) from Capella University, an MBA from Bond University, and a B.S. in Management Systems (Marketing) from Kettering University.

His research is focused on affluent consumer behavior and non-traditional bundling strategies. Dr. Levens has conducted more than 100 research projects throughout the world and has presented his research at conferences hosted by the Advertising Research Foundation, American Marketing Association, Association of Marketing Theory and Practice, Automotive Market Research Council, and the Canadian Marketing Association.

Dr. Levens’ first textbook, “Introduction to Marketing”, is in use at more than 80 colleges and universities in North America and in China. His second textbook, Principles of Marketing textbook, Marketing: Defined, Explained, Applied, is used by more than 100 colleges and universities across the world and now in its second edition. He regularly provides consulting services to Fortune 100 companies and consults pro bono for major not-for-profits. Dr. Levens has presented to the American Marketing Association Conference on “Leveraging Tools, Techniques and Technology: Maximize Your Research Impact”, focusing on the packaging of premium products in bundles to increase sales from affluent customers. He has also given presentations on marketing strategies and research methodologies at the Canadian Marketing Association, Advertising Research Foundation, Automotive Market Research Council, and the Association for Market­ing Theory and Practice.

Dr. Levens is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has completed a Fulbright Specialist Fellowship in Riga, Latvia at the University College of Economics and Culture. He is also active in the American Marketing Association, Detroit Economic Club and MENSA. Dr. Levens has been appointed to three different boards of directors and presently serves as a director and marketing chair of the Eisenhower Dance Ensemble.
