Thursday, June 15, 2017 - Susan Foley joins Walsh College as Vice President, Chief Development Officer

Walsh College has announced that Susan Foley will become vice president, chief development officer, effective June 26. Foley replaces Audrey Olmstead, who is retiring following nine years of service.

Susan FoleyFoley will lead the development, alumni relations, student life, and government relations functions at the College. She will also serve as the secretary to the Walsh College Foundation.

Foley has over 20 years of fundraising and leadership experience. Most recently, she served as the senior director of departments, centers, and institutes at the University of Michigan – Michigan Medicine, where she led a major gift officer team.

“Susan has substantial ties to the local business community, and we are confident that her leadership, experience, and knowledge are a perfect fit to continue the College’s development and fundraising goals,” said Walsh College President and CEO Marsha Kelliher. “We are delighted that Susan has joined our team at Walsh.”

Previously, Foley served as the vice president for advancement at Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation, with responsibility for fundraising, marketing, and government relations. She also served as a senior director of philanthropy at Henry Ford Health System.

“Strong relationships are critical to the success of every business,” said Foley. “At Walsh, those relationships include students, alumni, and the business community. The foundation at the College is strong; there are more than 27,000 alumni, and more than 80 percent of them remain in metro Detroit to live and work.

“Earning a degree from Walsh is life-altering. The majority of students graduate and then make an immediate impact in the local business community. That is very rare these days and I’m excited to be a part of that dynamic.”

Foley is a lifelong resident of metro Detroit. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
