Class of 2015

Andrew Specht, MBA ‘15 was appointed director of Roadmap Market Research, a subsidiary of Campbell Marketing & Communications, in Dearborn. He was a market research manager at Cengage Learning in Farmington Hills. He graduated from Wayne State University and received master’s degrees in library and information science and business administration from Wayne State University and Walsh College, respectively.

Michael Wion MSIA, ‘09 is a Senior Director of Enterprise Sales for Stroz Friedberg, responsible for developing and expanding the firm’s many trusted advisory relationships with corporate clients. Mr. Wion carries an extensive background in global business consulting, security and technology services. Clients respect his insightful knowledge and know-how across a spectrum of industry leading practices, technologies, methodologies and solutions related to: security analytics, identity assurance & access control, governance risk & compliance , security information & event management, data leakage protection, encryption & key management, adaptive authentication and fraud protection solutions, plus cyber defense and data breach preparedness. He passionately continues to help companies reap the benefits of proactively managing digital risk issues and challenges.

Prior to joining Stroz Friedberg, Mr. Wion served as Director of Business Development with Oracle Corporation. He assumed wide-scale accountability for augmenting the company’s security products and consultative services and to that end, he was credited with numerous innovations for helping clients gain a clever edge in security assurance. Preceding his time with Oracle, Mr. Wion was a Business Development Manager at RSA Security (the Security Division of EMC) for ten years. While there, he was recognized for creating and leading an outstanding client relationship management team that was pivotal to delivering in-demand consultative offerings for RSA’s extensive client base.

Class of 2004

Sharron Jekielek-Olka, BBA ’04, MSF joined Crestmark’s SBA Division as vice president, SBA underwriter. Before joining Crestmark in 2014, Jekielek-Olko worked as a senior commercial real estate analyst at Wells Fargo Bank. Her previous work history includes the following positions: real estate underwriter for Level One Bank; commercial real estate underwriter at First State Bank; and asset analyst for Daimler Chrysler Corporation. Jekielek-Olko has a master’s degree in finance, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.

Wallace Rutkowski, MBA ’04, MAC ’10 has been elected to served on the Walsh College Alumni Association Board of Directors for a three year term, June 2015.  Wally is a manager at GKN and received her Master of Accountancy from Walsh in 2010.

Class of 2003

Senan Abdal, BBA ’03, MAC ’12 owner of Breakaway Deli in Troy, recently expanded the deli to twice the operating size.  Abdal has been co-owner of the deli since 2004 working their prior to obtaining ownership.  Abdal is a resident of Troy, MI and attended Troy Athens High school. 

Class of 2002

Mark Redman MBA ‘02 was named controller of Strategic Staffing Solutions in Detroit. Prior to joining the information technology company, he was chief financial officer for the Spartan Equities High Yield Fund I. He has 30 years of experience. He has been on the board of directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit. He is a member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Redman has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University, and graduated from Walsh College with a master’s degree.

Class of 1999

Scott Calka BBA ’99 has been elected to serve on the Walsh College Alumni Association Board of Directors for a three year term beginning June 2015. He began working for the Detroit Tigers as a Clubhouse Attendant / Bat Boy for the visiting teams. When he graduated with his bachelor degree Scott was offered full-time position in the Front Office. He is currently the Box Office Administrator processing ticket accounts for various departments, such as corporate sales.

Christine Harder, BBA ’99 was named vice president Enrollment, Billing and Payment Operations at Health Alliance Plan (HAP), a newly created position. Matthew Walsh, senior vice president and chief operating officer made the announcement.

Harder was previously with Henry Ford Health System where she directed the implementation of electronic medical records and billing system. Before that she worked in Henry Ford Health System’s patient financial services. Harder has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Walsh College and is pursuing a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University.

Michelle Sherman MSF ‘99 was named chief financial officer of Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. Prior to joining Gleaners, she worked for Barden Cos. as the chief financial officer and acting CEO. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree, and from Walsh College with a master’s degree. She is a certified public accountant. She also is on the advisory board of directors for multicultural business programs at MSU.

Remi Adedokun, BBA ’95 is new owner to Cottage Inn Pizza in Troy, MI. Prior to this franchise, Remi worked for Crain’s Detroit as a Senior Accountant.

Class of 1993

Tim McCabe, MSM ’93 joined KPMG in May 2015 as Managing Director, was featured on CIO online in an article titled “Why passion is a requirement for today's CIO.”

Prior to that, he was senior vice president and CIO with Delphi for nine years, and was previously with General Motors for 16 years. Tim received a BA from Oakland University and an MSM from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration.

Class of 1990

Sean Cook, MST ‘90 named chair of the Tax Practice Group for Warner Norcross & Judd LLP. Cook is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, where he chairs the Taxation Section of the Trusts and Estates Committee. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and on the board of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Cook serves on the Walsh College President’s Advisory Council. He has been named to Best Lawyers in America, Michigan Super Lawyers and as a Top Lawyer by DBusiness magazine.

Harold Burns BAC ‘89, of Memphis, is the 2015 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year at St. Clair County Community College. Burns is a partner at UHY, LLP in Sterling Heights and a managing director of UHY Advisor Mi, Inc. He oversees the audit and assurance department in Sterling Heights and is the firm's national health care practice chairman. He earned an associate degree in general business from SC4 and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Walsh College.

Class of 1982

Richard Kollins, BBA ’92, MSM ’94 has been elected chairman by the board of trustees of the National Automotive History Collection. Kollins joined the board in 2010 and has served as its secretary since 2012. A graduate of Walsh College with a bachelor's degree in finance and master's degree in management, he has more than 30 years of international automotive manufacturing, assembly and management experience.

Don Clayton of Clayton and McKervey, (Don got a certificate according to Colleague) was awarded the first Association for Corporate Growth Detroit Chapter Lifetime Achievement award. Mr. Clayton was presented the award for his extraordinary leadership, his role in growing and shaping the chapter through sustained active and meaningful participation, and for being an outstanding example in the professional community. The firm’s clients include US companies that have established subsidiaries in foreign countries and the US subsidiaries of foreign companies from locations around the world.
