Excel for Business workshop
1

Whether you are a business professional or a student preparing to be one, utilizing your Excel skill set is extremely valuable in today’s business world.

You’ve probably used Excel before, but basic Excel knowledge is not going to get you very far these days – and it is your responsibility to gain the proper skills and bring them to the table.

Walsh is offering three interactive, complimentary workshops, open to the public. Each session is intended for a different skill level. We recommend that you to take all three in sequence to better advance your knowledge, but it is not mandatory. All three sessions take place on Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Let’s take a closer look into what each session consists of:

Session 1 – Sept. 30

The first session, titled “Basics of Excel,” will go over the elementary functions of Excel. These functions include creating spreadsheets, formatting, simple formulas, reference and data types, ranges, named ranges, and other simple functions.

Although you might already know some of these core Excel functions, it is always a good idea to brush up on your skills.

Session 2 – Oct. 28

The next two workshops, titled “Excel for Business,” get into a bit more detail. Set at an intermediate level, Session 2 focuses on learning how to determine if the data is accurate, how to sort and filter data, make key fields, create lookups, and format conditional formulas. These are fundamental tools used by business professionals and students alike.

Session 3 – Dec. 2

Designed for advanced users, Session 3 takes a deep dive into learning how to create and use pivot tables and charts, and how to select the best approach to solving a problem. Session 3 is where mastering the skills of the first two workshops comes in handy; they are essential to understanding the advanced skills needed to master Excel.

A solid foundation is crucial to navigating through Excel’s complex features. By attending these workshops, you’ll be ready to tackle whatever task your employer, or professor, sends your way. Bring your laptop and take advantage of the opportunity to master the must-have skills needed to use Excel like a pro.
