Alumni Success: Jeffrey Littmann (BBA '77, MST '81)

The Walsh College Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually to an outstanding alumnus/alumna who has achieved exceptional personal and professional recognition. Jeffrey Littmann, who earned his Bachelor of Accountancy in 1977 and Master of Science in Taxation in 1981 from Walsh College, and earned a Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law, received the award in 2016.

His early career included work with Ziebart and Arthur Andersen LLP. He currently serves as life trustee and chairman of the board of The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation.

In many ways, Littmann is the model for an undergraduate’s transition from community college – in his case, Macomb Community College – to Walsh College. Married and raising a family, Littmann worked full time while attending Walsh, determined to achieve his undergraduate degree while juggling work and family.

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation thinks so highly of Littmann that it has established a Jeffrey Littmann endowed scholarship at Walsh for students who transfer from Macomb Community College. In a fall 2013 Journal article that celebrated the scholarship, Littmann said Walsh was a perfect fit for him as it gave him the “work-study balance to stay on track.”

Littmann also was the keynote speaker at Walsh’s 2017 Spring Commencement and honorary Doctor of Laws degree recipient. He inspired graduates and encouraged them to be lifelong learners.

Walsh College is proud of its long-standing relationship with Littmann. His personal and professional accomplishments are an example to our students and alumni, and his addition to our exemplary list of Distinguished Alumni is well deserved.
