Detroit Promise

Students are eligible to maximize credits at a community college and transfer them to a bachelor’s degree at Walsh. Detroit Promise students are eligible for a full paid tuition scholarship to complete a Walsh bachelor’s degree.

Eligibility Requirements

To transfer to Walsh, Detroit Promise community college students must have 60 credits or an associate degree from a participating community college: Henry Ford College, Jackson College, Macomb Community College, Oakland Community College, Schoolcraft College or Wayne County Community College District. Detroit Promise Scholarship Opportunity

Walsh offers a tuition-free path for Detroit Promise students to earn a bachelor’s degree. Students must meet eligibility for admission to Walsh. Once accepted as a Walsh student, you will need to submit the following to earn the scholarship:

  • Complete the Walsh scholarship application at walshcollege.edu/scholarships
  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include the Walsh school code (004071)

Transfer up to 90 credits to Walsh. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.000 is required.

BAC, BBA, and BSIT – Transfer up to 82 credits

  • 60 semester credit hours with a grade of “C” or higher to include:
  • 30 semester credit hours of general education credits including one course in:
    • English composition/written communication
    • Mathematics (intermediate algebra/satisfies MTA)
  • An associate degree satisfying the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA) will meet this requirement General education/MTA courses satisfy Walsh general education requirements.

BSAM – Transfer up to 90 credits

  • An Association of Applied Science degree (AAS)

Meet with a Walsh transfer advisor early in the process.

  • Complete the Walsh scholarship application at walshcollege.edu/scholarships
  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and include the Walsh school code (004071)

  • Let your transfer advisor know when you apply and we will waive your $35 application fee!

Email a copy of your college transcript to transcripts@walshcollege.edu. Unofficial/student copies are accepted for admission. An official transcript will be required to be sent from your community directly to Walsh by your second semester.

Once your application has been reviewed, your advisor will contact you with your admission status and email your admission letter with your new student steps. At this time, you will be able to submit the Walsh scholarship application to receive your free tuition scholarship.

New Student Appointment – We encourage you to meet with your advisor to review your starting steps at Walsh. We will guide you in logging into the Walsh Student Portal, your Walsh email account, viewing your program plan, planning your schedule, and registering for classes.
