External Scholarships

We have complied a list of scholarships that are available outside of Walsh College.  The possibilities are endless and spans much farther than this list.  To make your search easier, they are organized by field of study or subject.  Select the area that best matches your educational background. 

In addition to the scholarships listed below, there are many external scholarships available to students from organizations, foundations, companies, and individuals.  You can increase the possibility of being selected by increasing the number of applications you submit.  Search for external scholarships through free online scholarship databases such as: Fastweb or The College Board.

Multiple Majors

American Association of University Women
Graduate students can apply for a fellowship or grant.  Funding ranges from $2,000 to $30,000.  A variety of programs are available.

Crain's Detroit Business
Crain's offers a $2,000 scholarship to an undergraduate business student with a minimum 3.0 GPA, two letters of recommendation, proven active member in the community, and has financial need.

Island View Private Loan Fund
This fund awards $1,000 scholarship to a undergraduate or graduate business student.

Oakland County Joan McFern & Steve Fetterman Memorial
Oakland County Local/Steve Fetterman/MI Future Scholarship offers a $2,500 scholarship to a student from Oakland County studying for a career in the independent agency system.  Courses could be in insurance, business, finance, marketing, etc.  Open to entering sophomore, junior or senior beginning September 2016. 

1-800 Hansons
This company is offering a multiple scholarships awarded to eight students annually.  First place will receive $5,000 (one winner), second place $1000 (three winners) and third place $500 (four winners).

Senior Caregiver
SeniorAdvice.com and SeniorHomes offers a $1,000 scholarship to a student who has been an adult caregiver for a relative.  Open to students attending a college or university in the spring 2017.

Senior Volunteer
SeniorAdvice.com offers a $1,000 scholarship to a student that has served as a volunteer in a senior living community within the past year.  Open to students attending a college or university in spring 2017.

YAC/MI Future Shawn Brown
This $2,000 scholarship is available for students planning a career in the independent agency system.  Open to students entering in their sophomore, junior or senior year with at least one full year remaining. 

Accounting

Adcraft Club of Detroit
Several scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate marketing and advertising students from Michigan colleges and universities.

Michigan Accountancy Foundation
The foundation awards a $3,000 scholarship to students planning to be a CPA in Michigan and are a full time accounting student (or combination of education and employment).

National Society of Accountants
The foundation awards scholarships ranging from $500-$2,200 to undergraduate students majoring in accounting.

This web site allows the student to search for scholarships based on need.

 

Information Technology

Buick Achievers
This program is offering up to 50 renewable scholarships up to $25,000 per year.  Open to undergraduate students who have a passion to succeed in fields of study in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Remote DBA
A leading provider of remote dba services, will award a $2,000 scholarship to an outstanding college student pursuing studies in computer science or computer engineering with an interest in the fields of database administration or data science.

 

International Business

Michigan Chapter of German American Chamber of Commerce
The chamber will award three $2,000 scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing an internship in Germany.

 

Leaders

American Red Cross
The organization's "Leaders Save Lives" program is giving away $8,000 in scholarships.  To qualify for a scholarship drawing, students need to hold a lifesaving blood drive.

CREW Network Foundation
This $5,000 scholarship supports future female leaders as they pursue university-level education that will lead into commercial real estate careers.  Ten scholarships are awarded annually. 

 

Marketing

Marketing Edge
This non-profit offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in Marketing.

 

Project Management

PMIGLC
This $2,000 scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students working toward a certificate, minor, bachelor, master or doctoral degree in project management or related field. 

 

Undergraduate Students

Crain's Detroit Business
Crain’s Detroit Business Newsmaker offers a $1,500 scholarship.  It is awarded to an undergraduate business school student attending a college in Southeast Michigan.

HighGround
This company offers a $2,000 scholarship for an undergraduate student going towards a business, marketing, and/or HR degree.  Submission requirements include a writing an essay and including a resume.

Soliant Consulting
This $1,000 scholarship is available to undergraduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA.  Submission requirements include writing a 500-word essay.

 

Writing

Slant Marketing
This company is offering a $1,500 scholarship to a student that writes an essay of 1500 words or less, their idea for a promotional experience created by a favorite brand. 

Tungsten Rings & Co.
The company awards a $1,000 scholarship to the applicant with the most thought- provoking and well-written application.  

 

Women

Arab American Women's Business Council
The organization awards six $1,300 scholarships to women of Arab descent based on academic merit and financial need.

Soroptimist International of Oakland County
An annual "Live for your Dream" award of $1500 is available to women who are the head of a household.  Women eligible include those who are enrolled or been accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program to upgrade their enrollment status.  To determine complete eligibility rules, view flyer.  Completed applications must be completed by November 15, 2016.  For more details, contact the Awards Chair, Althea Grant.

Troy Women's Association Women's Scholarship Awards
The Troy Women's Association (TWA) offers scholarships to women returning to school or continuing her college education.  Applicants must demonstrate community service and have a financial need.  Application Deadline: April 28, 2017
