Rated eighth in the nation*, the Master of Science in Accountancy (MAC) at Walsh College goes beyond the numbers; you will learn how to think analytically and communicate the importance of financial statements, income tax planning, and business accounting to your clients, teams, and organizations. 


Walsh offers two options for students interested in a graduate degree in accountancy. The MAC is designed for students with a liberal arts, technical, or business (non-accounting) background who wish to enter the field of accounting. The MAC for Accounting Graduates is designed for students with an accounting undergraduate degree who wish to advance their accounting careers.

Master of Accountancy Courses

Through the MAC from Walsh College, you will gain a mastery of financial analysis and accounting fundamentals, and you will be able to clearly communicate with your clients. Upon completion of the MAC, you will be equipped to:

  • Analyze and prepare tax forms and statements for businesses.
  • Manage assets, including stocks, bonds, real estate, and derivative securities.
  • Advise in raising and investing money, capital structuring, and capital budgeting.
  • Perform audits of various industries and businesses.
  • Direct in security and investment management.

Master of Science in Accountancy for Accounting Graduates Courses

The MAC-W is designed for students with a background in accounting. Walsh College requires 10 courses for a total of 30 credits, passed with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.000 (or “C”) or higher to graduate. If you earned your undergraduate accounting degree over five years ago, you will be required to take the Walsh College accounting placement exam. You may choose a concentration in Data Analytics, Finance, or Taxation.

If you have earned your bachelor's in accounting and are planning to pursue the CPA licensure, the 30-credit MAC will fulfill the 150 credits required for licensure. You will also need to complete the 2,000 hours (about a year) of experience working as a CPA required by the state of Michigan for CPA licensure. This experience could be in a CPA firm, government, industry, academia, or public practice.
