Certification

All benefit users are required to fill out a Benefits Authorization Form to be certified/invoiced for each term.

Forms

  • Benefits Authorization Form

Submit this form prior to every semester in which you plan on using benefits. It will authorize the usage of your benefits for that term. It must be resubmitted each semester for certification to continue.

  • Early Certification Form

Ch.33 Only: Submit this form in addition to the Benefits Authorization Form if you receive a financial aid disbursement that is time sensitive. We will submit your tuition and fees with the enrollment certification.

  • Parent School Letter Request

Submit this form if approved to take courses at another institution. A Parent School Letter allows certification at both schools.

Certification Process

Chapter 33 (Post 9/11)

  • Enrollment is certified the first week of classes if you have submitted a Benefits Authorization Form; tuition and fees are submitted after the withdrawal period ends each term.
  • Once your enrollment is certified, you are in a VA queue for housing payments and your book stipend. These payments are made directly to you.
  • If Walsh receives tuition and fee payments from a source other than you, it may be reduced from the amount we report to VA, depending on the type of funding that it is.
  • All payments from VA are prorated based on your percentage of eligibility.
  • Tuition and fees are paid directly to Walsh.
  • Yellow Ribbon Funding: Yellow Ribbon is additional funding for those with 100% Chapter 33 eligibility. If your tuition costs exceed the annual cap, Walsh and VA each pay half of the excess. Click here for the current annual cap.

To use Yellow Ribbon Funding you must:

  • Be 100% eligible for the Post 9/11 GI Bill®
  • Have your enrollment certified with VA using the Post 9/11 GI Bill®.
  • Have tuition and fee charges in excess of the yearly cap.
  • Notify a Walsh SCO of your need for the Yellow Ribbon Funding.

Chapter 30, 1606, 1607

  • You must then verify your monthly enrollment through WAVE (Web Automated Verification of Enrollment)
  • This should be done on the last calendar day of the month at the earliest to be approved for payment for previous month.
  • Monthly payments are paid directly to the student.

Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation& Employment)

  • We can only certify courses that are part of your program and meet the individualized requirements on your 22-1905.
  • If Walsh receives tuition and fee payments from a source other than you, it may be reduced from the amount we report to VA, depending on the type of funding that it is.
