Commencement Planning

 

Each January and June, Walsh College holds commencement ceremonies to confer bachelor and masters degrees to our graduating students. Invitation

Initial invitations are mailed to eligibile students.  Winter and spring candidates were mailed invitations on April 7Summer and fall candidates receive notification in November.

Ceremony location and date

Commencement is held at Zion Christian Church in Troy.  The next ceremony is scheduled for June 20, 2015.

Cap & gown ordering

You have three options to puchrase a cap & gown:  Grad Fair (May 4-5), Online (May 6-June 3), or in the Bookstore (May 11-June 12).

The cost includes cap/tam, gown, tassel, master hood (if applicable), but excludes tax.   

  • Purchase:  Bachelor $43.98, Master $80.96, Doctoral $552
  • Rental: Doctoral $152.98
    Note: Doctoral gown will be returned, but you will keep the hood and tam.

Walsh DMD chapter members can purchase online.

Honor Cords

Undergraduate students who have achieved a cumulative of 3.500 or higher GPA and attend will receive a honor cord the day of the ceremony.

Military Cords

U.S. active duty and Veteran students are eligible for a military cord. Students who attend will receive a cord the day of the ceremony.
Note: Your military status will be verified with the Records & Registration Office.

 

 

Tickets

Each ceremony varies and depends on the number of candidates attending.  There is no cost for the tickets.  If you need more tickets, we highly recommend that you check with other classmates that will be attending.  If the College has any extras, details will be provided in the follow up letter to participants.  This is typically sent two weeks prior to the ceremony. 

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed during the reception to help distribute padfolios to new graduates.  For details, contact Duc Abrahamson, Alumni & Student Relations Manager at 248-823-1298.
