Commencement Planning

 

Each January and June, Walsh College holds commencement ceremonies to confer bachelor and masters degrees to our graduating students. Invitation

Initial invitations are mailed to eligibile students.  Summer and fall candidates receive notification in NovemberWinter and spring candidates receive notification in April.

Student Attendee Information

Students that are participating are sent additional details in the mail about a week before the ceremony.

Ceremony location and date

Commencement is held at Zion Christian Church in Troy. 

Saturday, June 18, 2016 (March and June 2016 candidates)
January 2017 (September and December 2016 candidates)

Cap & gown ordering

You have three options to purchase a cap & gown and to complete the commencement participation form:  Grad Fair, Online, or in the Bookstore.

The purchase cost includes cap/tam, gown, tassel, master hood (if applicable), but excludes tax.   

Bachelor $43.98, Master $80.96

Walsh DMD chapter members can purchase online.

Honor Cords

Undergraduate students who have achieved a cumulative of 3.500 or higher GPA and attend will receive a honor cord the day of the ceremony.

Military Cords

U.S. active duty and Veteran students are eligible for a military cord. Students who attend will receive a cord the day of the ceremony.
Note: Your military status will be verified with the Records & Registration Office.

 

 

Tickets

Each ceremony varies and depends on the number of candidates attending.  For the June 2016 ceremony, students attending will receive seven guest tickets.  There is no cost for the tickets.

Requests for Extra Tickets

If you need more tickets, we highly recommend that you check with other classmates attending the ceremony.  Overflow space is available with a large video screen and located in the Chapel Room.  Tickets are not needed for this room and it is located just down the hall from the auditorium. 

If extra tickets can be distributed, requests can be made via an online form.  The web address will be provided in a letter that is mailed two weeks before the ceremony. 

Usually a maximum of two extra tickets are distributed to students making requests.  Students will receive an e-mail back with a confirmation if the request has been granted.  If tickets have been granted, their name and tickets will be available at Will Call (located in Zion lobby) the morning of the ceremony.

Photo Submission

If a Walsh staff member has requested a headshot photo for the commencement video, please submit your information and photo online.  The marketing department will need the photo no later than a week before the ceremony.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed during the reception to help distribute padfolios to new graduates.  For details, contact Andrea Richards at 248-823-1204.
